brides’ guide to: 6 Things to Consider When Planning your Fall Wedding

You’re ready to tie the knot while the leaves change colors? An autumn date can be the perfect season for love, especially if you enjoy the crisp air and warm mugs. But before you send out your Save the Dates, here are a few things to consider when planning a fall wedding.

football weekends

Even if you aren’t an avid football watcher, some of your guests likely follow a few fandoms. While you shouldn’t plan your wedding around a sports schedule, it’s important to take into account any big games, especially ones in your area. If the biggest rivalry home game falls on the same day as your fall wedding, you won’t want to end up sharing the spotlight with a sporting event. Be sure to ask your partner their opinion on the matter so that you both select a date that will allow you to focus on your union.

research the weather

In some fabulous fall locales, winter weather can sneak up on you. The last thing you want to worry about on your big day is a snowstorm coming to steal the show. Due your due diligence. Make sure the date you’re selecting won’t clash with the cold weather. Otherwise, you may need to prepare for a snowy wedding. Even if you’re getting married indoors, this can impact those traveling to visit you, or your choice of footwear. All things considered, the weather plays a large role in the day you get married.

daylight savings

Daylight savings typically fall in early November, meaning you’ll gain an hour of sunlight. This is excellent news for those wanting to celebrate fall wedding celebration until dawn, but it’s important to schedule your wedding time accordingly. You’ll want to utilize the golden hour with your photographer. If your wedding falls before the clock changes, you must realize that the sun may be set early. Make sure to plan out your day of activities so that you’re able to make the most of a sweet fall sunset.

consider holidays

Labor day may seem like the perfect break for celebrating your love, but that may become a conflict for people with set plans. The same goes for dates around Thanksgiving and Halloween when planning your fall wedding. If your guests skew younger, planning around a school fall break could even be a concern. We know it may be exciting to celebrate your anniversary on holiday, but remember that your family and friends have traditions of their own. Though you can’t possibly please everyone, it’s crucial to recognize that holidays will deter a decent chunk of your guest list.

consider your color pallet

As the colors change outdoors, the shades within your wedding pallet should somewhat reflect the season. While you don’t need to select an orange for the sake of it being fall, you should keep in mind that colors like light blue remain much better suited for summer and spring. Don’t let the season stop you from picking colors you enjoy, but lean into the shades you’re surrounded by. Warm tones are your best friend when it comes to fall weddings.

venue and vendor availability

September and October are the busiest months during the wedding season. If you are dreaming of a fall wedding, you should get started with planning early and be prepared to be flexible with your wedding date!
